Day 45

Today was a different day.  I was with maintenance, but I started my day with resources because all the maintenance guys had left me.  I started by running over to Woodbine and picking up some totes to collect books from Goodwill.  Then I just waited around until 9, when we headed over to Bentley for the grand opening.  I spent most of the morning helping set up for the event.  I had to help set up chairs and the podium.  We just helped out where needed, doing the odd jobs.  When it was time to start, Tony and I had to direct traffic so that people could park in the designated spots.  When the event started, it was a lot of people talking about Bentley, whom I had no connection with.  They were mostly just rich people who funded and decided how Bentley would be built.  After the speeches were over, there was a ribbon-cutting, and then refreshments and time for tours around the property.  While all the rich people were enjoying the property, we were cleaning up from the speeches.  We had to put all the chairs back away since we had set them up in the middle of the road.  When people had kind of filed out, we took a lunch break and then started back in on the work orders.  I had to hand out a bunch of rent renewal papers for 2 of the buildings.  Then we had to go fix a cabinet door that someone had broken off.  We ended up just taking the pieces back to our little maintenance room and getting them glued back together.  Then we had to go adjust a water heater because the resident said it wasn't hot enough.  We accidentally made it way too hot, and then way too cold, and then we got it just right.  Then we had to spend the rest of our day trying to put together a dog waste station.  It should have been simple, but there were so many different ways it could be put together, we just had to find the way that worked best.  When we were done with that, we headed back to the office.  Then I headed home, where I had to work on a college application, and then Michael Oyer took us out for supper.  We went to a fancy burger and indian restaurant.  I got a lamb burger with fries, and Naomi ate a lot of my fries.  After supper, Michael Oyer and I went and hung out by going to Josh and John's ice cream shop.  We had a nice talk in the shop before I showed him how the pike rides worked, and we biked back to the house.  We then had time to visit before going to bed.
