Sam's Year of Service Adventure

 This morning we started with breakfast and a business meeting.  Then we went to church.  After church, we had supper club.  We played some badminton and then had a burger cookout.  After supper club, I went home and relaxed for a while, and then I took compost to Lawrence's, got gas, and then went shopping.  When I got back, Leigha made some curry for supper.  After supper, I relaxed the rest of the evening and then went to bed.

 Today I slept in late because my bed was so awesome.  When I got up, I headed down the road a little way to try Uncle Sam's Pancake House.  I got the Uncle Sam, which was a really good omelet.  Then I headed back and ate my food on the front porch.  When I was done eating, I packed up my cabin and got my car out of the way, and then we sat and visited for a while again.  Around lunch time, we went to Dutch Bros for some drinks, and then I grilled up some brats for lunch.  After lunch, we sat and watched the pool, waiting for the time when no one else was in there so Jenni and I could go swimming.  Finally, the time came, and we floated around for a couple of hours.  After we were done swimming, I headed back to the house.  When I got home, I pretty much went straight to bed.

 Today I went down to Bentley and spent the whole morning painting, that's it.  When I got home, I ate lunch and then prepared ribs for supper so they could go in the oven all afternoon.  While the ribs baked, I played some video games and hung out with the kids.  When the ribs were almost done, I brushed them with some Dr Pepper as my liquid seasoning, then BBQ sauce, of course.  They turned out really well.  After supper, I had a nightmare of a pan to wash, and I watched the kids for a little while.  Then I headed over to Jenni's place, where I had a cabin for the night.  We sat on the front porch and visited for a long time before I retreated to my cabin for the night.

 This morning we started with an all-staff meeting, which included a breakfast buffet.  After the meeting, I went with Alden to pick up a door for Bentley, and then we went to Home Depot to pick up some other stuff.  When we finally made it to Bentley, we got to work painting the new door.  It took a lot of coats of primer and a lot of coats of paint.  It took most of the morning while also doing some other jobs on and off.  Then I took lunch.  After lunch, we did some more little jobs along with the continuation of the painting in the make-up.  Near the end of the day, we got a call that someone had flooded their apartment, and water was in the vestibule and going under the outside wall, making the sidewalk wet.  This meant we ended the day by vacuuming water and drying the floor.  When we had the flood under control, I headed back to the office and then home.  When I got home, I relaxed the rest of the evening before going to bed....

 Today was pantry day.  We started with the morning pickups and then put everything away.  Then we took lunch.  After lunch, we got started, and it was a very busy day with a lot going on.  At the end of the day, we packed up and headed back to the office, where we put stuff out for people to take.  Then I headed home.  When I got home, I relaxed for a while before Christian made some deconstructed stuffed peppers for supper.  After supper Chrisitan led a learning component about speaking Chinese.  I'm not sure how long I will be able to remember what we learned, but it was fun.  After the learning component, I headed to bed.

 Today I did all kinds of different things.  I started by finishing putting up letters on the office door that I started a month ago.  Then I got a ride down to Bentley and Alden, and I had a lot of work orders to do.  We started by posting many notices.  Then I went to take a look at an apartment where the sink, the toilet, and the shower were backed up.  We decided to call the plumber for that one.  Then I took my lunch.  After lunch, I went to take a look at a dishwasher that was missing the brackets that hold it in.  We got some on order.  We also took a look at a broken drawer that someone had replaced a roller with a bottle cap.  We also found another clogged toilet that needed a plumber.  After that, I went and took a look at an apartment with a loose door, but I found no loose door.  Then I went to take a look at a door with a broken door frame that required calling out another vendor.  Then we got another cal...

 This morning, we got up for one last delicious camp breakfast.  After breakfast, we said our goodbyes and hit the road.  When we got back to the house, I had some lunch, and then Christian and I went up to Castle Rock to buy me a laptop.  It was a good experience, and now I have a really nice computer.  When we got back, we went to a playground for a while, and then we came back and grilled some burgers for supper.  After supper, I relaxed the rest of the evening before going to bed.

 This morning, I slept in as late as possible and made it just in time for our little worship.  We did not do much since it was such a small group, but we had some singing, scripture, and even a children's story.  After worship, it was time for brunch.  It was so good.  After brunch, we went on the old wagon road hike, which I had never been on, and it was a nice stroll.  When we got back, I had a short afternoon nap, and then we did a little bit of boating followed by a very competitive game of pickleball.  After pickleball, it was time for supper, which was lasagna.  After supper, we roasted some s'mores and then played some Dutch Blitz before I headed to bed.

 Today was the workday of work and play.  We started with breakfast, of course, and then broke off into our groups. I was with the moving group, of course.  We started by moving some heaters and the ping pong table back into the Bern room.  We got to use Lefty, which is Camp's mini truck.  After that, we started hauling tables for Bern out of the cabins.  There were tables in several cabins.  Once we had all the tables in, we emptied out Tall Timbers of a bunch of building materials that had to go up to Staffville.  We brought down some boats for the pond on our trip down.  Then it was time for lunch, and we had the most amazing cheeseburger casserole.  After lunch, we had to go back up to Staffville and bring down more boats.  Next, we went over to the cabin, full of more boats, paddles, and life jackets, and emptied it out.  Then we started the huge task of bringing all the benches into bern and cleaning all the carpet pads o...

 Today I was with maintenance again at Bentley.  After fixing a garbage disposal, we spent the rest of the morning painting an apartment.  After work, I headed home and had some lunch.  After lunch, I didn't do much in the afternoon.  When it was time to make supper, I grilled some shrimp and had some mac and cheese and cheese muffins on the side.  After supper, we packed up the car and headed up to camp for Memorial Day work and play.  I got to sit in the middle of the 2 kids on the drive up.  When we got there, we checked into our rooms and then had a meeting about the next day, as well as some snacks.  We also had a game of Would You Rather.  Then it was time for bed.

 Today I was working at Bentley.  I spent the majority of the morning working on a make-ready, patching holes and doing touch-up painting.  For lunch, I got some fried chicken from King Soopers. After lunch, I put up some blinds, let a vendor into an apartment, and then we did some make-ready inspecting.  After that, we decided that since there were three of us, we were going to fully paint an apartment because it smelled so bad.  We spent the next few hours priming it.  When we had finished, we had a meeting in the office at the end of the day.  At the end of the day, Jenni gave me a ride home.  When I got home, I had some supper, and then Leigha and I made a couple of chocolate chip cookie pies.  We ended the evening playing some Overcooked.

 Today was pantry day.  I had to start my day by cleaning out the van from yesterday.  Then we headed to the pantry before I went out to do the pickups.  When I was done with the pickups, we got everything put away and then had lunch.  After lunch, we opened the pantry.  It was a busy but smooth day.  When we were done, we cleaned up and headed back to the office.  At the office, we put stuff out for people to take, and then I headed home.  When I got home, we headed to church soon after for a BBQ.  We had burgers, salads, and desserts.  After the BBQ, we headed home, and instead of learning component, we planned our Alaska trip.  We planned out what days we would be where, the hikes we wanted to do, and we got a campsite booked.  After we were done with our planning, I went to bed.

 This morning, I started by going to Care and Share to pick up some food for the pantry.  I was able to walk around and find some free chips and soda while I waited.  Then I headed to the pantry and put stuff away.  I had to do a lot of reorganizing.  When I was done at the pantry, I headed back to the office, where I took my lunch break.  Then I went to Natural Grocers to pick up food.  On the way there, I got stuck in construction, so I practiced my ragebaiting on another driver.  When I got the food, I headed to the pantry and picked up Jenni on the way.  When we got there, we got everything put away, and I grabbed a couple of extra bags of soil for going up the mountain.  Then we went back to the office, and I grabbed everything I needed for building the garden beds.  Then I had to go to Santa Fe to pick up the rest of the soil.  When I had the soil, I drove up to Hybrook and built and filled the last 2 garden beds.  W...

 This morning, I started by going to Sprouts for the pickup.  I was, of course, stuck in construction, and it took a long time.  On my way to the pantry, I stopped at the office and picked up Jenni.  When we got to the pantry, we had to unload quickly because we had to get up to the Attrium.  Jenni thought she was driving people to the bowling alley.  When we got there, they decided they would rather just carpool than have us drive them, so that was a waste of time.  Then we headed to Westside to drop off the bread.  Then we headed back to the office for lunch.  After lunch, I headed out to do some libraries and drop off the rest of the flyers for Crystal.  Handing out flyers at the big properties took a long time.  When I was done with that, I went back to the pantry and made sure everything was more organized since we did not spend much time there earlier.  When I was done at the pantry, I dropped the books off at Woodbine an...

 This morning we had church.  After church, I got the lawn mowed since we are supposed to have rain all week.  When Christian and Leigha got home, we played some Overcooked.  Eventually, it was time for supper, so we made some mozzarella sticks in the air fryer.  After supper, we played some peek-a-boo with Josiah, and I had never heard him laugh as hard as he was.  Then I relaxed the rest of the evening before going to bed.

 Today I went over to Jenni's house to finish up the fire mitigation.  I spent the whole morning cutting and moving trees.  We got Jersey Mike's for lunch, which was really good.  After lunch, I spent about another hour cleaning up some small branches, and then I was done.  When I had finished up I we sat around on the front porch for a while before they took me home.  When I got home, I relaxed, played Overcooked with Leigha, and hung out with Josiah some.  Then we had some leftover verenika casserole from last night for supper.  After supper, I relaxed for a while, and then Jane and Elliot came over to hang out.  When we were done hanging out, I headed to bed.

 Today we had the vet clinic.  We spent the first part of the morning setting up for it.  Once they had gotten going, I took some clothes over to the pantry and then went to do the GoPuff pickup.  I picked up around 200lbs of water, so it was a lot to unload.  When I was done dropping stuff off, I ran around to a few different properties and dropped off some flyers for Crystal.  When I was done running around, I went back to the office to have some lunch and then hung out at the vet clinic for another hour or so.  When we were done, we got cleaned up, and then I headed home.  When I got home, I relaxed for a while, and then we went to play disc golf for my learning component.  We found a fun little course that was not too far away, and it was pretty easy to learn on.  It was a lot of fun.  After learning component, we came home, and I made verenkia casserole for supper.  After supper, we started watching Serenity, and then I he...

 Today, we headed back up to Hybrook.  We stopped at the donut mill again on the way up for koloches.  When we got there, we got 2 more beds built.  It was way easier when I could cut the tin to make it fit together right.  When we were done at Hybrook, we headed back down.  On the way, we stopped at a gas station that had Hunt Brothers Pizza, which I miss getting at the grocery store.  When we were back down we had lunch.  After lunch I went to The Ridge and built another bed.  When I was done at The Ridge I took some plants over to Santa Fe for a resident, and dropped some books off at Woodbine.  When I was done running around I unloaded the van and organized things.  When I was back at the office the same girl from a couple days ago brought us four more trash bags of clothes she wanted to donate.  The rest of the afternoon Jenni and I worked on statements and some planning for upcoming things.  After work I headed home....

 Today was a busy day.  We started the morning by driving up to Woodland Park to give the people up there some soil and let them pick out seeds and plants.  On our way there, we stopped at the Donut Mill and got koloches.  When we were done at Valley View Point, we headed further up the mountain to Divide, where we went to Hybrook.  We built them 2 garden beds and filled them with soil.  The beds were much harder to put together than they should have been.  When we were done on the mountain, we headed back down and straight to Natural Grocers for the pickup.  On the way to the pantry, I dropped Jenni off at the office and then went to the pantry to put everything away.  We got a lot of eggs, so I had to put them in all the fridges.  When I was done at the pantry, I went back to the office and had some lunch.  After lunch, I went to Santa Fe to pick up some more soil to build another garden bed at The Ridge.  On my way to The Ri...

 This morning, we started by picking up Sprouts.  Then we headed over to the pantry and unloaded everything.  While Kary and Jenni put everything away, I ran to Santa Fe and picked up a bag of soil for Kary.  When I got back, we did not have much else to do, so we headed to Woodbine and picked up some books.  Then we did the downtown libraries.  Next, we stopped by Jenni's property and then went to Westside to drop off the bread.  When we got back to the office, we ate lunch and then headed to Sunset Greenhouse to buy plants for the garden program.  We bought a lot of plants.  When we were done shopping for plants, we did some more libraries and then went to Santa Fe to load up dirt for building garden beds tomorrow.  When we got back to the office, we loaded up the garden beds and the rest of the stuff for tomorrow.  Then I headed home.  When I got home, I ate some supper and then relaxed the rest of the evening.

 Today we went to church.  After church, we came home and had some lunch, and then I went and did the grocery shopping.  After I was done shopping, I did not do anything the rest of the day.

 Today I went back over to Jenni's property and did some more fire mitigation.  I worked on it all day.  We stopped for a lunch break, and we had some of my leftover ham, and Jenni made pasta salad and baked beans.  When I was done for the day, Jenni took me home.  At home, I made some edible cookie dough, which was pretty good.  After that, I relaxed for the rest of the evening before going to bed.

 Today I was at Bentley, and the main task was chipping grout off of bricks that will later need to be reinstalled.  This took pretty much all day, and at the end of the day, I headed home.  When I got home, I put my ham in the oven to bake all afternoon.  While the ham was baking, I mowed the lawn and did a few other things.  When it was almost time for supper, I made some creamy vegetables and then got the ham sliced up and added cheese.  Supper was really good.  After supper, we all sat in the basement and visited for a while before I went to bed.

 Today I started my day over at The Ridge.  I had to get a garbage disposal fixed.  After that, we ran to Home Depot to get a lock and then headed over to The Attrium.  At the Attrium we had to replace filters and smoke detector batteries for a few people.  We also had to get a jar out of a garbage disposal, and it turned out to be a huge pain.  Then we went to Wendy's for lunch.  After lunch, we had to install a motion detection light switch, and then I went and checked out a furnace that was making a funny noise.  Next, we had to go to Kittyhawk to let a guy in to fix a fridge.  Then we went back to The Atrium very slowly because traffic was super backed up due to construction.  Back at The Attrium, we had to fix some cabinet doors and replace the batteries in one of the smoke detectors because the ones we installed were defective.  At the end of the day, Doug picked me up, and we went to pick up the van from the shop, and I took ...

 This morning I woke up to it snowing outside, and the snow continued throughout most of the day.  Today was pantry day.  I started with the pickups in the morning, which had a bonus stop at the office to get the tablet we forgot.  When I was done with the pickups, we got everything put away with about an hour of extra time because Sprouts was such a small pickup.  After we ate our lunch, we opened up to the small number of people who were signed up.  When we were through the list, it was dead for about an hour, and then we finished the day a little busy again.  We were also giving out potting soil to a few residents.  When we were done at the pantry, we packed up and headed back to the office.  At the office, we unpacked everything and then headed home.  When I got home Chrisitan and Andrew had made spaghetti squash for supper.  After supper, we played Sonar for the learning component, which was super fun.  After learning the ...

 This morning, we had a special event at the office where some potential donors came in to learn about eviction prevention and leasing.  While Jenni was doing that, I went to Goodwill to pick up books.  I took the books to Woodbine and then headed back to the office for lunch.  After lunch, Jenni and I had to run home and get heavier coats for mobile market later.  Then we went to Natural Grocers for the pickup.  We dropped the stuff off at the pantry, then headed to the Attrium.  When we got there, we found out they had opened early and had already made it through the rush.  After mobile market, we packed up and headed back to the office.  Then I headed to Santa Fe to pick up some soil to give to people at the pantry.  Then I went to the pantry and unloaded stuff before going back to the office.  At the office, I checked on some lights that weren't working and found we didn't have what we needed to fix them.  Then Jenni took m...

This morning I started with the Sprouts pickup.  After I did the pickup, I picked up Jenni at the office, and we went to the pantry and put everything away.  Once everything was put away, I cut up a roast, and then we found some other stuff to keep us busy until 11.  We went by Woodbine to pick up books on the way to Westside.  After we dropped off the bread, we went to Moreno and The Ridge to do libraries.  After we did those libraries, we went back to the office for lunch.  After lunch, I went and did some more libraries and then we had soil pickup for the gardens from 3 to 5.  We had almost no people show up, even though a lot of people were signed up.  When we were done, we got gas and dropped off the books on the way back to the office.  Then I headed home.  When I got home, we had pizza for supper, and then we finished our worship night series on the Sabbath.  After worship night, I relaxed the rest of the evening before going...

 This morning, Christian made us a breakfast feast.  After breakfast, we went to Woodman Valley for church as part of Michael's worship night.  I really enjoyed the sermon, but the music was a little much for me.  I also enjoyed the coffee shop in the church because they had Dr. Pepper.  After church, I went over to my host family's house, and then we went out to lunch at Doug's.  I had a really big omelet for lunch.  After lunch, we went back to the house and relaxed for a while, and then I came home and relaxed some more.  When it was time for supper, I grilled some burgers.  After supper, I put the licence plate on the van and then relaxed the rest of the evening.

 This morning, I went over to Jenni's house to do some tree clearing for them.  I cleared trees all morning, and then we got La Casita for lunch.  After lunch, I continued clearing trees, but I had a chainsaw for the afternoon.  When I got done for the day, Jenni took me home in the jeep with the roof off.  When I got home, I relaxed for a while and then had some leftovers from lunch for supper.  After I ate supper, I went to bed.

 Today I went up to The Ridge.  We did a bunch of odd jobs.  We emptied dog trash cans, moved a bunch of paint, checked out some make-readies, and scraped some stuff off a shower.  When we were done at The Ridge, I went back to the office, and then Jenni took me to her property to show me some work they had for me to do.  When we were done looking at the work, Ryan took me home.  When I got home, I had some lunch and then had to get to a meeting with Bethel.  After the meeting, I relaxed the rest of the afternoon before making some supper.  I made a spaghetti pie for supper.  After supper, I played video games with Christian, and then I headed to bed.
