Day 123 January 8

 Today I was with maintenance.  We started with our morning meeting as usual, and then Tony and I had to go over to Woodbine to pick up trash in the hallways.  Then we went over to VSR and dropped off a whiteboard for Posh.  After that, we had to go up to The Ridge to drop off toilet paper and tissues.  Then we finally made it over to Bentley.  Once at Bentley, we decided to install a stove.  We got the stove all unboxed, but then it had some issues from the factory.  Things were not lining up correctly, and the instructions were terrible.  Then we found out we needed to buy a cord for it since it did not come with one.  Before we went to buy stuff, we checked in with 2 other residents who needed curtains hung, so we got measurements.  Then we decided it was time for lunch, so I called Jins Sub and Bowl and ordered some food for everybody at Bentley.  Then Tony and I went to pick up the food.  While we were waiting, we got to meet the owner of the restaurant and have some fancy tea that she brought us.  When we got our food, we took it back to Bentley, and we all had lunch together.  After lunch, we went to Home Depot and bought blinds, the cord, and a few other things.  When we got back to Bentley, Tony started trying to put the cord on, and we realized it was the wrong one.  I ended up running back to Home Depot, returned the wrong one, and bought another one.  When I got back, I realized it was still the wrong cord.  We decided to go to a different Home Depot that ended up being further away, but they actually had the right cord.  Then we rushed back to Bentley, got the cord put on, and then got the stove installed.  We also had to hang up some accordion doors while we were there.  When we were done with the stove, it was already 5:40, but we still had to go check some pipes in the ceilings of some of the buildings to see if there was any moisture.  Now it's after 6, and Tony took me home.  When I got back to the house, I made myself some food and then hung out with Naomi.  We read a lot of books.  After Naomi went to bed, I played some Overcooked with Christian and Leigha.

Day 28

We got up at 3:30, hoping to hit the road at 4 and then be on the trail at 4:30.  We were pretty close to on time.  We were hiking Mount Princeton.  Since we were in a van, we had to hike from the lower parking lot up a Four Wheel Drive trail for 3 to 4 miles.  When we finally hit single track, it didn't take long for us to be rock scrambling.  We had about 3 miles of rock scrambling to the top.  About half of it was just along the side of the mountain, but then we really turned uphill and had a pretty steep scramble to the top.  We finally made it to the top, and it was an amazing view for a little bit.  A snowstorm was moving in quickly, and we watched it start from a nearby mountain and slowly come toward us.  We had a slippery scramble down the shale on the mountain.  Then the snowstorm caught us, and it was kind of just a sleet, but it made all the rocks very slippery.  By this point, some people were fighting headaches.  ...

Day 32

Today was pantry day.  Since Trilby hurt her finger yesterday, she tagged along with me to the pantry.  I started by running to Home Depot to get a wagon wheel for the wagon at the pantry.  When I got back from Home Depot, we picked up Doug and went over to the pantry.  Jenni was sick today.  We dropped Doug off at the pantry and then went to pick up the food at Sprouts and Trader Joe's.  We had a relatively light haul from Sprouts, but a fairly substantial haul from Trader Joe's.  We got everything put away in the pantry in record time and then had time for a good, long lunch break.  There were not a lot of good options for lunch, but eventually I found a pretty good sandwich.  After lunch, we started the pantry and had about 20 to 30 people come through.  It was not that many people at the end of the month, because usually by that time their government funds have run out.  Once we hit about 2 o'clock, we pretty much didn't have an...

Day 26

Today I was with maintenance again.  We started off by going to Arcadia to do some inspections.  These rooms were much better kept than the last apartment we did inspections in.  We only had to do 3 rooms, so it didn't take long.  Then Bill took me over to Bentley, where I continued taking pictures again.  I did pictures most of the day, and then Bill picked me up at about 3:30 and we headed back to the office.  It was my day to cook, so I decided to make a pizza, which turned out pretty well.  After supper, we decided to try another community youth group for young adults again.  It was kind of like a church service with singing and a sermon.  I was not super into it because it was a non-denominational group, and they just do things a little differently.  On the bike ride home, my chain fell off while crossing the bridge over the highway.
