Day 201 April 1

 When I got to the office today, I found out it had been punked for April Fools.  Bill's office was covered in TP, and there were wet paint signs everywhere, and all the bathrooms said they were out of order.  We had an official office meeting where we were told that the half day scedual would stay.  After the meeting, we got donuts for resources because it was their appreciation month.  We finally headed over to the pantry a little late, and then I went to Trader Joe's.  When we got back from Trader Joes we got all the food put away, and we also had to bag up a five-gallon bucket of pinto beans.  Then we ate lunch.  After lunch, we got started.  It was pretty calm at the beggining but as the day went on, I felt like I was just going crazy.  We had a new resident move into Plaza, and he is such a nice guy.  We found out that he was not given a hot plate when he moved in, so I gave him one in the pantry, and he immediately got up and gave me a hug.  He was so grateful for everything we were doing.  When I carried his food out to his apartment, he started crying and could not express how thankful he was.  He was a super nice guy.  We also had a really drunk lady at the pantry, and we decided we could not have her there anymore.  At the end of the day, a few people came who were willing to clean us out, and then we packed up and headed back to the office.  When we had unloaded at the office, I headed home.  On the way home, I had to stop by the pantry and grab the stuff I forgot there.  When I got home, I ate some supper, and Leigha led a learning component on friendships.  It was pretty interesting, and there were some funny parts of it.  After the learning component, I relaxed for the rest of the evening before going to bed.

Day 28

We got up at 3:30, hoping to hit the road at 4 and then be on the trail at 4:30.  We were pretty close to on time.  We were hiking Mount Princeton.  Since we were in a van, we had to hike from the lower parking lot up a Four Wheel Drive trail for 3 to 4 miles.  When we finally hit single track, it didn't take long for us to be rock scrambling.  We had about 3 miles of rock scrambling to the top.  About half of it was just along the side of the mountain, but then we really turned uphill and had a pretty steep scramble to the top.  We finally made it to the top, and it was an amazing view for a little bit.  A snowstorm was moving in quickly, and we watched it start from a nearby mountain and slowly come toward us.  We had a slippery scramble down the shale on the mountain.  Then the snowstorm caught us, and it was kind of just a sleet, but it made all the rocks very slippery.  By this point, some people were fighting headaches.  ...

Day 32

Today was pantry day.  Since Trilby hurt her finger yesterday, she tagged along with me to the pantry.  I started by running to Home Depot to get a wagon wheel for the wagon at the pantry.  When I got back from Home Depot, we picked up Doug and went over to the pantry.  Jenni was sick today.  We dropped Doug off at the pantry and then went to pick up the food at Sprouts and Trader Joe's.  We had a relatively light haul from Sprouts, but a fairly substantial haul from Trader Joe's.  We got everything put away in the pantry in record time and then had time for a good, long lunch break.  There were not a lot of good options for lunch, but eventually I found a pretty good sandwich.  After lunch, we started the pantry and had about 20 to 30 people come through.  It was not that many people at the end of the month, because usually by that time their government funds have run out.  Once we hit about 2 o'clock, we pretty much didn't have an...

Day 26

Today I was with maintenance again.  We started off by going to Arcadia to do some inspections.  These rooms were much better kept than the last apartment we did inspections in.  We only had to do 3 rooms, so it didn't take long.  Then Bill took me over to Bentley, where I continued taking pictures again.  I did pictures most of the day, and then Bill picked me up at about 3:30 and we headed back to the office.  It was my day to cook, so I decided to make a pizza, which turned out pretty well.  After supper, we decided to try another community youth group for young adults again.  It was kind of like a church service with singing and a sermon.  I was not super into it because it was a non-denominational group, and they just do things a little differently.  On the bike ride home, my chain fell off while crossing the bridge over the highway.
