Day 277 June 25
This morning, Michael and I hiked Flat Top Mountain. On the way there, a moose was walking down the middle of the freeway, making sure to assert dominance. The hike itself was really hard for me because my legs were still hurting from the hike yesterday. There were 2 ways to go up, and we didn't know we took the old flat top trail, which was pretty much straight up the mountain and much harder than the other way. We did go down the easier way. The view from the top was amazing. We could see all of Anchorage, the ocean, and lots of mountains. We also found the sticker on the flagpole that the Alaska unit left up there. After the hike, we decided to go visit Adrianas work. She gave us a tour of the whole place, and it was really cool what goes on there. We also got a tour of the art gallery, which was all stuff her clients had made and were for sale. The stuffed animal I bought for Janessa was drawn by a client and then made into a stuffed animal, which I thought was really cool. When we were done visiting Adriana, we found a local souvenir store, and I bought some magnets and another shirt. Then we went back to the house, cleaned up, packed the van, and then went out to eat at Spenard Roadhouse, where I got an amazing burger. When we were done with lunch, we topped off the car with gas before returning it to the owners. Mir picked us up after dropping off the car and took us to the airport. I was a little tight getting through the airport, but we still made our gate in plenty of time. We had a direct flight with United back to Denver. The plane actually had screens in it, so I was able to watch a few movies on the 5-hour flight. I also had to use an airplane bathroom for the first time. When we got into Denver, it was quick getting out, and then we took the bus to the car. Then we headed back to the house and straight to bed.
